Turkish Cuisine, 5605 N. Clark Street. What with it's faded red awning, daringly generic name, and inevitable
accompanying question, "What
is Turkish cuisine?", it took us a while to dip into this local haunt, even though it's literally right around the corner from our apartment. Aren't we glad we did. This is Eurasian comfort food (huh?) at it's finest. On a recent blustery winter day, I put middle school biases aside and took a chance on some beef stroganoff...only to be rewarded with one of my Top 10 dishes I've tried...
ever. The hummus, dipped in the piping hot loaf of complimentary bread sends visions of mustachioed Turkish men and Turkish women in plaid skirts, skipping hand in hand, dancing through your head. This place is legit, and if I ever win the Turkish Lotto, I'm eating here every day.
