Things We Like: Piatto Pronto

Piatto Pronto is a small Italian deli across the street from our apartment. The fact that we love an eating establishment should come as a surprise to no one. But this is no ordinary deli. The Italian man behind the counter wearing a kangol and an earring reeks of class, charm and gouda cheese. You're not sure, but you may have seen him on Season 4 of The Sopranos. Meats, cheeses, pastas and sandwiches of unmatched qualities at prices that would make your local grocery chain blush. For shame Jewel-Osco!

Katy goes for a sandwich called the Amy's Favorite, swapping honey mustard for mayo. $4.99 for a 12 inch. Piatto Pronto wins. Take a seat Jared Fogel, your 'five dollar footlong' song is an epic and annoying failure. One pound of the Oven Roasted Ham with Rose and a half pound of that exotic, pretentious looking cheese for me please. Thank you kind sir, your kangol serves you well. I fear I must say ciao, as if I stay any longer, the Italian music playing in the background may force my hand into an intimate and awkward slow dance with my wife. Good day.

*Side note: Ever since going to see the The Wrestler, I can't order anything at the deli counter without thinking of Mickey Rourke. This is potentially disturbing. Although I defy anyone to not go to a deli if you knew Mickey Rourke was working there. It would probably be in your best interest to just go there even if you didn't really need anything. Humor the guy. Go see the movie and you'll know what I'm talking about.
